Who we are

WatchPost, Inc. provides weather intelligence software to electric utilities and infrastructure operators. Our services include the WatchPost web application at app.watchpost.net, the WatchPost mobile applications for iOS and Android, and this marketing site. WatchPost is a business-to-business product: accounts are created by invitation from your utility, and we act on instructions from the utility you work for.

Information we collect

Account information. Your utility provides your email address and display name when it invites you. We store these, together with your organization membership, in our authentication service (Amazon Cognito) and in our own database, and use them to sign you in, to scope what data you can see, and to route alerts you have opted into.

Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications in the mobile app, we store the device push token, the platform (iOS or Android), and the app version, linked to your account, so we can deliver the alerts you request. Disabling notifications deactivates the token.

Location. The mobile app asks for foreground location permission only, and only to show the weather conditions where you are standing. The coordinates are sent to our servers to compute an answer and are not stored, logged, or used for any other purpose. The app keeps your most recent reading on your device so it can show it while offline. We never track location in the background.

Assistant conversations. Messages you send to the in-app assistant, and its replies, are stored with your account so your conversation history works across devices. Your utility's administrators do not read them in the product.

Usage analytics. The web application uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which collect anonymized page-view and performance data and do not use cookies or track you across sites. This marketing site uses PostHog to understand aggregate visitor behavior. The mobile app itself contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

Contact form. If you write to us through the form on this site, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit, and use them only to respond.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for advertising of any kind. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How information is shared

Operational data in WatchPost belongs to the utility you work for, and what you can see is controlled by that utility. We use service providers to run the product — Amazon Web Services for hosting and authentication, Vercel for the web application, Expo and Apple/Google push services for notification delivery — each processing data only to provide their service to us. We disclose information if the law requires it.

Retention and deletion

We keep account data for as long as your utility maintains your account. When your account is removed, or on request from you or your utility, we delete the personal information associated with it. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email josh@watchpost.net.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is scoped per organization, and production access is limited to the people who operate the service.

Children

WatchPost is a workplace tool for utility personnel and is not directed at children under 13.
